Our Technology
Capacitive Deionization(CDI) works on the principal of applying a low voltage across two electrodes and passing the solution between them. This attracts the salts to the charged electrodes and removes them from the solution
Capacitive Deionization(CDI)
The technology that we aim to utilise at Pure Hydro is closely tied to Capacitive Deionization(CDI). CDI is a very promising technology that has the potential to offer a much more environmentally friendly alternative to existing technologies such as Reverse Osmosis.
However, unlike conventional CDI, our patented technology has demonstrated an improvement in separation yields of up to 70%.
Reverse Osmosis VS Pure Hydro CDI
Reverse Osmosis
PUMP
Pumps in reverse osmosis devices require high amounts of pressure
INTERNAL COMPONENTS
Reverse osmosis relies on membranes that require high maintenance and are very expensive to replace. Reverse osmosis consumes a lot of energy to reverse the naturally occurring process of water osmosis
POWER
A large amount of power is required to sustain the high pressures required for reverse osmosis to occur. This translates into high operation and water distribution costs
Pure Hydro CDI
PUMP
PH CDI requires normal amounts of pressure to ensure a constant flow rate
INTERNAL COMPONENTS
We rely on a patented electromagnetic configuration that leverages the naturally occurring processes of electrical attraction and electro-adsorption.
No expensive maintenance required and no expensive components to replace
POWER
The PH CDI requires a very low amount to operate; less than a third of what reverse osmosis consumes. This will help reduce operating costs and the cost of water bills
Current laboratory testing
Our design has successfully completed laboratory proof-of-concept testing and we are currently testing it further for the best materials before designing and building a prototype
Sustainable components
Pure Hydro aims to provide a sustainable and environmentally friendly device. This includes the testing and designing of locally plant sourced materials for the manufacturing of our electrodes.
Electrodes
High performing electrodes are an important component in a CDI device. That is we are testing the longevity, performance and endurance of different electrode materials in order to build a device that is cost effective and long lasting.
Real laboratory results showing a salt removal improvement of up to 70% over conventional CDI devices
